Gold and silver cluster

The gold and silver district of Vicenza has about 1,000 companies employing 10,600 workers.

The local production is mainly represented by business realities of small to medium and small size, strong craft and family, often involved in the full cycle of processing; 80% of the companies is concentrated in the area of the City of Vicenza, while the others are located in the towns of Trissino and Bassano.

The goldsmith tradition began in the 14th century AD, when in the city of Vicenza, "Fraglia the Goldsmiths' was founded, a trade association that brought together more than 150 craftsmen; a considerable number, if you think that the inhabitants of the city at that time were just 20,000.

The attitude of openness to international markets has always been a feature of the gold district of Vicenza. This openness affects, mainly, the commercial aspects, while production is still conducted largely in the area. The first step towards foreign markets for the companies of the district is represented historically by Vincenzaoro trade show, an event born in 1954 that became the most important Italian showcase for the sector, and the second in Europe after that of Basel.

Some of the most famous brands in Goldsmith and Jewelry originate in this area, like Chimento and Pianegonda, but most of the companies are unbranded and wide open to start international partnerships and joint ventures.
