The offshore terminal of the Port of Venice will berth larger ships and will bring both economic and environmental benefits.
20 metres natural depth
To boost competitiveness in Europe, the Port of Venice is planning an offshore platform at some 8 miles off the Malamocco port mouth where the seabed has a natural depth of 20 m.
The new Container Terminal
The overall increase in container traffic in the Mediterranean is a major opportunity for the Port of Venice to increase its market share in this area.
To further enhance its position in the container traffic, the port will enhance its capacity by erecting a new terminal that will initially will host up to 1,400,000 TEUs yearly.
The "Motorways of the Sea" new Terminal
The new Motorways of the Sea terminal, operational by 2014 and linked to the rail network, will have its own logistics platform and will be able to serve up to 1,200 ferries.
