Air Monitoring Network
The "Ente Zona" (The Industrial Zone Agency), founded on 1924, is a non profit organization, whose members are the Companies lacated inside the industrial area of Venice.
Since 1974, the Agency manages the Network for air pollution monitoring, officially supporting the local Environmental Protection Agency (ARPAV).
Features of the system:
- The monitoring network for the air quality uses 11 peripheral stations for the chemical-physical analysis of the atmosphere and of two stations for the relief of weather characteristics. Each station can be connected with a portable personal computer and a printer, so as to allow, if necessary, the reading of the data on the site of their detection;
- the acquisition, the processing and the data storage are performed by the peripheral stations which, while being managed by the central system, are able to continue to perform their own function autonomously, without losing any information, also in the event of interruption of the dialogue with the central server;
- the possibility of using the system also in unusual situations warrants the ability of immediate intervention, in case of emergency, or abnormal situations, reported by any station;
- the devices are able to adapt to any particular requirement (changes of scale of measurement and measurement parameters);
- lthe ability of expanding the network, by adding individual peripheral stations and other metrics;
- the high potential of the system allows the application of pollution forecasting models, using data already received, to provide information on the expected air pollution;
- The control center consists of two Microwax 3400 server with a large memory and a vast archive. One of the two server acts as backup, but it can be used for collateral activities, such as the execution of prediction models or the research for correlations between the archived data.
